Shajjad Haider Rizvi MBE

Shajjad Haider Rizvi MBE, a proud Londoner, came to Romania in 1990. Shajjad has founded and led civil society and UK business development in the region for the past 30 years. Shajjad has served as the Honorary Consul for the UK in Cluj the past 10 years. He is the co-owner of Resysten International, an innovative protective coatings company whose antimicrobial and clean-air products ensure sustainable surface decontamination and are a genuine solution for addressing air pollution.

In 2002, Shajjad founded the Little People childhood cancer charity, which helps every child in Romania undergoing cancer treatment. In 2015, Shajjad co-founded Youth Cancer Europe, which has since grown into the most prominent youth cancer patient organisation and the leading voice on youth cancer issues globally.

In 2013, Shajjad was appointed Chairman of The Duke of Edinburgh Award Program. In 2019, Shajjad was awarded an MBE by HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, for his work in childhood cancer care. In 2021, he was awarded the Custodian Medal of Honour from Her Majesty Margareta of Romania. In 2022, Shajjad hosted the Global Forum for The Duke of Edinburgh Award program in Cluj. This was historic as it was the 1st time the Global Forum was held outside the UK and Commonwealth, and in a former Warsaw Pact country. In 2024, Shajjad became a Livery Freeman of the City of London Corporation.
